Visit of the Milan Čoran’s mussels and oyster farm
From September 15th to 17th, 2024, SEASN Honorary President Milan Husnjak organized a study trip for the Carinthian Chamber of Agriculture and Forestry from Austria, focusing on Croatia’s diverse agricultural practices. The trip commenced in Zaton, Šibenik, where participants visited Mile Čoran’s mussel and oyster farm, ideally situated near the Krka River, which provides nutrient-rich waters essential for shellfish cultivation. Mr. Čoran demonstrated the meticulous process of growing mussels and oysters, emphasizing the challenges of aquaculture in this thriving ecosystem.
On the second day, the group traveled to Vedrine, where they explored Dominik Zeko’s

Despite the area’s challenging soil conditions, Zeko has successfully established a thriving dairy operation, producing a variety of organic products, including cheese and yogurt. Later, they visited the PA-VITA farm in Rugvica, one of Zagreb’s largest farms, spanning 200 hectares with 250 cows. Here, participants enjoyed a tasting session of artisanal cheeses, with Romina Zadravec presenting insights into the cheese-making process and the importance of quality ingredients. They also learned about local agricultural advisory services from Croatian experts.

The final day featured a trip to the Center of Competence in Vinjkovci, where Zlatko Nedić presented various projects focused on processing Slavonian oak and collaborating with organizations in the wood industry. Following this, the group toured Bjelin Spaćva, a leading wood-processing company
